Since I was 12 years old, I’ve known that I wanted to make movies. Years later I became a director of photography. My job is to tell a story with moving images, using light and composition to build characters, sensations and feelings.
I try to have the same approach in my still work: To express something with the image, either a story or just an impression. I attempt to understand the place, people, and history while I’m shooting. As a result, the picture may portray a little more than that frozen moment.
