Duality

The image is part of a documentary project called “Duality”. The project focuses on documenting intimate moments of performing artists to communicate my understanding of duality. Duality is the condition of being dual. It is the co- existence of contrasting worlds at once. It showcases the transition period of leaving yourself behind and becoming someone else. To capture the intimate moments of the artists, I photograph them an hour before the performance. With every stroke of the brush, the artist moves away gradually from his originality to an all new world. The make- up session enables the dual character of the artist. So, the transition phase is where the duality exists.
