Vicugnas in the snowy rocks of the Chimborazo volcano

Vicugnas are llama relatives, but they are far more delicate and graceful. They are the domesticated alpacas' wild ancestors. Because of how highly the Inca treasured vicugnas' wool, it was illegal for anybody other than royalty to wear vicugna clothing. Here a couple of vicugnas resting peacefully at 4350 m of altitude on the slopes of the Chimborazo volcano.
