Runningboy

During my trip to South Africa, I went to the beach one evening to take a drone shot of the sunset. A few meters next to me, a group of local children were playing in the shallow water and just enjoying life, as children typically do. As soon as the drone was in the air for two seconds, I had four of the kids around me who were interested in me, or more likely my drone. Together with them, we flew my drone for a short time. It was such a powerful, special and unaffected moment because in those minutes, skin color, money, age and nothing else mattered. So I quickly took the opportunity to grab my camera and somehow became part of the group and turned into a child myself. Two of the boys ran off and I ran with them. After our little sprint, I was suddenly surrounded by the whole group, everyone wanted to see the photos. There was smiling, joy and most importantly, the moment itself was simply accepted as such. After seeing the photos, the kids were immediately back in the water and carried on with what they were there for that evening. I was left with a feeling of fulfillment, acceptance and deep happiness of being alive. In my picture I see the joy of life, the lightness of being a child and the moments that life gives you when you are not looking for them.
