Scots Pine - Glen Affric
Some mornings are incredibly humbling for a photographer. We'd spent the night freezing cold in a cabin down Glen Cannich and set our alarms early in the hope of a decent sunrise. The morning brought thick mist and from the steamed up windows, what looked like a gloomy, heavy day ahead. I'd reccied a spot the night before that I knew I wanted to return to and we'd barely made it 5 minutes down the road when I knew it was going to be an amazing shoot. The mist started to peel back revealing more and more of the lochs and the surrounding Caledonian Pines. We had the entire area all to ourselves and spent a couple of hours watching the changing light as it reached deeper into the glen. I loved the shape of this old tree, slightly backlit, leaning towards the sun.
