Chocolate wonderland

Grand Falls, aka Chocolate Falls, are a popular destination for nature lovers and landscape photographers. They're located in Northern Arizona on the edge of the Navajo Reservation. Fed by the Little Colorado River, which in turn is dependent on snow melt or monsoon rain, the Falls come and go in a matter of days. We've had a lot of rain recently due to monsoon activity and so I made a trip up north with the intent of catching them under the full moon. The weather had other plans, however, and clouds obscured the rising moon. In retrospect, I should have gone down into the canyon before dark because I had to guess the distance for focus. There was ultimately sufficient moonlight to illuminate the water and I converted 3 images to a smart object stacked in median to address the noise. It was seriously dark in that 200' deep canyon! I'm very glad I made this short trip!
