Red Veined Dragonfly Doing Handstand

We know how fast and agile dragonflies are. That makes them hard to shoot. But there are moments when even they need to rest, soak up the sun and perhaps stretch. This red-vented dragonfly decided to do a handstand, an acrobatic move challenging even for humans, to accommodate this patient photographer at the Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens at Mission Canyon, CA. If I were a competition judge, I'd give it a perfect "10."
