A powerful Fluke

Day 6 of a three-week expedition cruise to explore the Antarctic peninsula, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands brought us to Charlotte Bay. At least twenty humpbacks, bubble-feeding on the abundant krill, gave us a spectacular show from our vantage aboard a Zodiac dingy. One humpback dove right underneath the dingy! We sat for at least an hour in the beautiful sunshine, absolutely amazed by the power and beauty of these mammals. It was a morning I will never forget.
