Purple Petals of Knowledge

Walking through Delwara, a typical Rajasthani village I met this young Muslim girl late in the afternoon, on her way to study the Quoran. I love the way the portrait slowly reveals layers of social and cultural traditions about the girl from the way she proudly clutched her workbook whilst I photographed her to her hijab and the purple flower ring on her finger and the big soft kind eyes.
