Kanamutico of the Vatwa tribe, Angola

This portrait of Kanamutico of the Vatwa tribe looking out of his hut was taken in the Angolan municipality of Oncocua. He follows in the footsteps of the older men in the village who spend their days tending to crops and goats in the nearby fields of this semi-nomadic tribe. Although the first indigenous inhabitants of the region, no-one knows exactly where they originally came from, not even their chief.
