A Mid-Afternoon Sunbath

A male green iguana claimed a tree along a hiking trail on the Yucatan peninsula. Every day, the male could be found on the same branches, basking in the sunlight of the warm weather days. Females would climb up the tree throughout the day to mate. Other males would climb the tree to attempt to claim the spot as their own. In the end, the dominant male (pictured) maintained his place and continued to lay in the heat of the sun.
