Great Egret Treetop Landing

Photographed by Peter Nyren

It was a beautiful evening at the local lake and, as usual, there was a lot of bird activity. So when I noticed a great egret swooping in looking for a place to land, I followed him through my viewfinder as he approached this nearby tree. Much to my surprise, he actually successfully landed on the thinest of branches at the very top.
