Brown Bear with a Broken Jaw
While photographing bears in Katmai National Park, Alaska, USA, we encountered a huge male coastal brown bear. He was in a very foul mood. As he came toward my pilot and me, we noticed that his lower jaw was hanging loose. Apparently he had his jaw broken in a fight with another male. Undoubtedly he was in pain. This was the one time I picked up my camera and tripod and moved a good ways backward.
