Young Owl

Photographed by Shane Morrison

This young Great Horned Owl had been hit by a car. I handled him carefully, first with heavy gloves and then with bare hands. He was docile, so I gently handled him and carefully checked for broken bones. I determined he was probably just stunned. I sat with him for a while and took this photo. After a couple of hours, he hopped and flew up to a low branch.
